Vucic: Serbia to remain on European path as long as I am president

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday Serbia would remain on the European path as long as he was president.

At a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is on a two-day visit to Serbia, Vucic said he had had a very long and extremely open and sincere discussion with her and that the EU had objections to Serbia over some things but that von der Leyen had always been prepared to hear the Serbian side.

He said they had discussed Serbia's orientation.

"As long as I am president of the Republic, we will not change the main objectives of our internal and foreign policies. That means that our European path and our advocacy of a European Serbia is crucial for our progress, that Serbia will work on that path with commitment and that we are hoping for results," Vucic said at the Presidency of Serbia.

Congratulating von der Leyen on her re-election as EC president, Vucic thanked her for supporting Serbia during her previous tenure and added that he hoped she would continue to do so in the current one.
