BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Azerbaijan's FM Jeyhun Bayramov in Belgrade on Monday and thanked him for his country's respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
"An excellent and friendly discussion with Minister Bayramov about the current geopolitical situation, the situation in the region, energy security as well as about Serbia-Azerbaijan bilateral relations," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
Vucic added that they had reconfirmed the exceptional relations between the two countries and the two nations, based on mutual respect and cooperation on key issues.
"I thanked Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev for the respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and I reiterated that they can always count on Serbia as a sincere friend and a responsible partner," Vucic added.
He noted that the discussions had especially focused on economic cooperation, cooperation in the military industry as well as on Azerbaijan's participation in EXPO 2027.
"Our plans to jointly build a gas-fired power plant near Nis, which would provide our citizens with an additional source of electricity, are extremely significant as well. I asked Minister Bayramov to give my regards to my friend, President Aliyev, and to convey to him that we expect him to come to Serbia soon, for the first Serbia-Azerbaijan Strategic Council meeting," Vucic added in the post.
