Aleksandar Vucic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he will present demands of the majority in Serbia at a central rally outside the Serbian Parliament in Belgrade on April 12, which will be held as part of promoting a new party, the Movement for the People and the State.
In a video message published on his Instagram on April 8, Vucic said that rallies promoting a movement, whose name and platform were yet to be agreed officially, would be held from April 11 to 13, calling on “all political parties, movements, workers, farmers, good male and female heads of their households, pensioners, Serbia’s youth, and everyone wishing to protect and defend Serbia” to join them.
“I am inviting all to gather here on Saturday (April 12), and to together send across a message, to define demands in line with the Serbian Constitution, but demands that are serious and represent the will of the responsible citizens, the will of the majority in Serbia,” he said.
He also said that over the past few months, Serbia had been exposed to “unbelievable terror,” but added that the country was rising up again, although it had suffered a knockout punch.
“I know it is not an easy task, I know that we do not have the money nor the power of those trying to destroy Serbia. I know that it is easier to be against and attack someone than to stand in protection and defense, but Serbia is the greatest sanctity we have, and there is nothing more important than Serbia. If they have been investing so much energy and ambition toward destroying our country, then we have to demonstrate even more strength and energy to defend it,” Vucic said.
