Vucevic: SNS to put forward several candidates for PM-designate

BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker PM and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Milos Vucevic said on Wednesday the SNS would propose several candidates for PM-designate.

In an appearance on K1 TV, Vucevic said an SNS delegation for Thursday's consultations with the Serbian president about a PM-designate would be comprised of five SNS officials and three representatives of coalition partners.

"Our position is that we need to elect a new government, to make an extra effort to elect a new government by April 18. It needs to be done a few days before that because the new PM-designate must hold consultations about the composition of the new cabinet, which then needs to be confirmed by party bodies. We are going to tomorrow's consultations with a proposal to form a new government, and we will come with several names of candidates for PM-designate," Vucevic announced.

"I think there will be big changes in the government, not only when it comes to the post of PM, but also within the government and in-depth, from state secretaries to directors of public enterprises. I think there will be big surprises, maybe even the PM will be a big surprise," Vucevic said.

He noted that he believed the new government should include many new people.

"Following my resignation, in view of all the circumstances we have been in for five months, we need in-depth changes to try to achieve social dialogue. That would be one of the conclusions about what the government must do," Vucevic added.
