Serbian Gov't Publicizes More Than 140 Documents on Novi Sad Train Station Reconstruction

By Dec. 13, the Serbian government has published more than 140 documents on the reconstruction of the Novi Sad railway station, whose outdoor concrete canopy collapsed on Nov. 1, killing 15 people and severely injuring two.

The publication of documents of the Ministry of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure which have to do with the potential committing of a criminal offense regarding the collapse of the concrete overhang at the Novi Sad train station on Nov. 1, began on Dec. 12 on the grounds of a government decision, at the initiative of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The publishing of all documents on the railway station reconstruction is among the demands of students who have been blocking their respective faculties since the end of November. The blockades started after an attack on students during a protest over the tragedy at the Novi Sad train station, and so far more than 40 faculties and colleges in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Nis, and Subotica have joined in.

The government will continue to publish those documents, of which according to Vucic there are 195, whereas according to Forbes Srbija there are over 850.
