Prime Minister Says Investigating Novi Sad Accident Will Be Difficult

Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said on Nov. 7 that the prosecutor and forensic experts investigating the collapse of an overhang at the Novi Sad Railway Station would have a difficult job.

In an appearance on RTS Vucevic said that the public was swamped with different opinions and conclusions on the accident in which 14 people lost their lives, but that judgements needed to be backed up by evidence. According to him, the authorities were not dodging political responsibility.

Asked what he thought about the vandalizing of Novi Sad's Town Hall on Nov. 5, the prime minister replied that the act was planned in detail, but the most citizens had not wanted to participate. "Most people gathered out of sadness, and a small group abused the rally. When the attack on Town Hall started, 90 percent of people left the rally," Vucevic added.
