Green-Left Front co-president Radomir Lazovic said on April 2 that the idea of an interim government would not gain ground if it did not get the support of the people who attend protests, civil society organizations and experts.

Lazovic told the Danas daily that the only way out of the ongoing crisis was the fulfilment of student demands and a peaceful government change at a fair election, which necessitates an interim government.

"[Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic] won't do anything positive unless forced to. Does anyone expect institutions to begin to actually work, which is necessary for the fulfillment of student demands [...] under the rule of the Serbian Progressive Party? The only thing that can bring about a resolution of the crisis is changing this criminal regime and holding it legally accountable," Lazovic said.

According to him, the chief tasks of the interim government would be the fulfillment of student demands, the revision of electoral rolls, the removal of the management of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation and halting pressure on teachers. Some of the opposition parties in the parliament announced late in March that they had reached consensus on the way to solve the political crisis in the country and that they proposed the formation of an interim government, or a government of national trust.
