Srdjan Milivojevic (BETAPHOTO/AMIR HAMZAGIC)
The newly elected president of the Democratic Party, Srdjan Milivojevic, stated on Dec. 19 that free and fair elections would be held and that the situation in Serbia would be resolved in that way.
“As for Vucic’s swindles, which he refers to as elections – that is finished. I think it is not very likely that the authorities would allow free elections. Therefore, it is more probable that the country would accomplish the full implementation of the ODIHR report by going into a general strike,” Milivojevic stated in an interview to the latest issue of the NIN weekly.
In his words, before the elections, the voter roster has to be brought in order, the REM has to be appointed by consensus, the fifth national TV broadcasting license has to be issued to a free television station, the political abuse of state money, police and security services has to stop and party phalanx must disappear from our lives.”
“It is not certain that Vucic will wait for such elections in Serbia. He might rather flee, like (the former Syrian president Bashar al) Assad did a few days ago. Probably to some Gulf state,” Milivojevic said, adding that everything would be done to prevent Vucic from escaping.
