Djuric to represent Serbia at UNSC session on UNMIK

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric will be representing Serbia at Wednesday's UN Security Council session on the UN secretary general's report on the work of UNMIK - the UN mission in Kosovo-Metohija - for the period between March 16 and September 15.

The UNSC session in New York is scheduled for 4 pm CET, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

In the regular semi-annual report to the UNSC, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres notes that the situation in the north of Kosovo-Metohija is tense and that there is a possibility of escalation, and calls on all parties to reconfirm their commitment to EU-facilitated dialogue.

Guterres adds that unilateral moves such as closures of institutions funded by Belgrade, steps towards reopening a bridge on the Ibar River in Kosovska Mitrovica as well as restrictions on movement of goods from central Serbia and implementation of a new monetary policy are heightening tensions among communities and between communities and institutions.
