Djuric receives Parlatino president

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric received Rolando Gonzalez Patricio, president of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), in Belgrade on Thursday.

Djuric said Belgrade deeply appreciated the position of many states in the Latin American and Caribbean region in upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, and that Serbia attached great importance to development of cooperation with countries in that part of the world.

Djuric noted that "Serbia continues to intensify its efforts to establish and build institutional cooperation with regional organisations in that part of the world, which serve as important platforms for dialogue and the exchange of views across various fields," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

"With regard to bilateral cooperation, Minister Djuric underlined that Serbia maintains traditionally good and friendly relations with the countries of the region, adding that Serbia will continue to build on this positive trend with partners who, although geographically distant, remain close and important to us.

He expressed Serbia’s deep appreciation for the position of many countries in the region in upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, as well as for their consistent respect for the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Specialised Expo 2027, Minister Djuric conveyed his expectation that the flags of the countries from this region will be flying in Belgrade during this prestigious event.

Minister Djuric also thanked the President of the Latin American Parliament for the lecture he delivered at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of his visit to Serbia," it also said.
