JERUSALEM - Serbian FM Marko Djuric, who is visiting Israel, met with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana in Jerusalem on Wednesday, expressing the confidence his visit would help strengthen Serbia-Israel relations further.
Djuric noted that Serbs and Jews were connected by a historical friendship, understanding and cooperation, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
The parties exchanged views on the state of bilateral relations and the dynamics of political dialogue, and Djuric said Serbia was committed to further advance its cooperation with Israel in various areas.
He said members of both parliaments - especially those involved in friendship groups - were making a special contribution to the bilateral ties.
Djuric conveyed Serbia's interest in continued economic cooperation, which he said had been growing steadily in recent years and was also reflected in an increase of Israeli investments in Serbia.
He informed Ohana of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and warned of the jeopardy to the Serb population in the autonomous province as well as of frequent provocations and unilateral moves by Pristina.
Djuric noted that Serbia was watching the situation in the Middle East very closely, and expressed the hope all people kidnapped in a Hamas attack on Israel would be released as soon as possible.
