Marko Djuric ( mfa.gov.rs)
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said on Dec. 8 that there was reason to assume that after U.S. president-elect Donald Trump took office, there would be major changes in the direction of U.S. foreign policy, which would indirectly affect Serbia, too.
"I expect efforts to be made to redirect the world from veering into general destabilization, which would be significant to Serbia both politically and economically, because even though we have found ways to be perhaps less traumatically affected by international crises than some others, we are still part of global economic chains and a stabilization of the global situation is undoubtedly in our interest," Djuric told the Dec. 8 issue of the Politika daily.
"We also have, of course, certain expectations when it comes to Serbia-U.S. bilateral cooperation, but at this time it would be wisest to be patient and wait for the transition of government in Washington," Djuric said, adding that Serbia was firmly strategically committed to membership in the European Union, and based that commitment on economic and political interests.
