WHO reacted urgently: A deadly disease broke out

The organization emphasizes that they are urgently working to prevent a larger epidemic.

Lebanese health authorities confirmed this week the first case of cholera amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Cholera is an infectious disease accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, and is spread through water contamination, for example when water supplies are contaminated with faeces.

The risk of an outbreak always exists when many people have to live in inhumane conditions due to the lack of basic hygiene conditions.

It is recalled that more than a million people have been displaced in Lebanon due to Israeli attacks in the fight against Hezbollah. Many live in cramped conditions in shelters or outdoors and do not have access to clean water.
