Vucevic: Opposition sees an opportunity in energy of student protesters

BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker PM Milos Vucevic said on Monday the opposition saw an opportunity in the energy of students protesting in the country.

"In your energy and your demands, those political vultures see an opportunity to come up with a crucial demand, and we are approaching the day when they will come up with political demands of their own," Vucevic said on Pink TV.

He said opposition politicians Goran Jesic and Borislav Novakovic had planned incidents during a blockade of bridges in Novi Sad, but that the reaction had been immediate and that the public had been warned the two would be held responsible if anything happened.

The opposition needs the students just to make the gatherings more massive and to gain public support, Vucevic said.

The opposition has never wanted the people to have a say and they want to come to power without elections, he added.

Vucevic also said the protests were an opportunity for opposition parties that wanted a secession of the autonomous province of Vojvodina to put such plans on the table, and added that this was spearheaded by Jesic and Dinko Gruhonjic.
