Serbia has made progress under Vucic's leadership - Chinese ambassador

BELGRADE - Under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia has made important progress in its economic and social development in the past years, says Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming, noting that China has always been "a firm supporter of Serbia."

"We will continue our efforts to cooperate with Serbia on its own sovereignty, territorial integrity and economic development," Li told Tanjug in an interview, noting that he believed the government and the people of Serbia would have the wisdom and the capability to maintain "peace, stability and prosperity."

"Definitely, China and Serbia are always genuine friends and reliable partners," he said, noting that Serbia would be able to count on China's support in the international arena in the future, too.

"On international and regional issues, China and Serbia always understand and support each other, especially on issues about sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. We always understand and support each other. I am sure that, in the future, we can count on each other continuously and together safeguard the international order which was established after WWII," Li said.

"We will continue our cooperation and support on many international and regional issues which concern our interests and legitimate rights," he added.

Asked to comment on current relations between Serbia and China, Li responded that he believed they were on a historic high and noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping had made a successful visit to Serbia last year and had been warmly received by Vucic and the people of Serbia.

Li noted that Serbia-China bilateral relations had been raised to the level of a community with a shared future, a symbol of the highest level of partnership.
