Branko Ruzic, an official of the Socialist Party of Serbia, on March 13 said that a camp set up in the Pioneers’ Park (Pionirski park) in downtown Belgrade, resembled a set for a reality show, adding that he would take part in a massive protest scheduled for March 15 in Serbia’s capital.

Speaking to TV N1, Ruzic said it was an inadmissible act of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to interrupt Ivica Dacic, the Serbian interior minister and the Socialists’ leader, at a joint news conference.

Commenting on the current political situation and government actions, Ruzic said that “adding fuel to the fire will not produce any effect.”

The arrival of members of disbanded Special Operations Unit in the Pioneers’ Park he described as wrong and potentially dangerous.

Ruzic further said that considering that students had been protesting in a civilized manner and demonstrating they believed in what they had been doing, he saw no reason for fueling tensions in the society with statements about confrontations, provoking conflicts or setting the Parliament building on fire.

He yet again stressed that a way out of the crisis should be sought through institutions.

Speaking about the police officer who was injured during the blockade of the state public broadcaster RTS building in Belgrade, Ruzic said the video footage showed a fellow colleague hitting the police officer, adding that establishing what had really happened was now a test for all institutions.
