Prosecutor's office requests information regarding footage revealing plans for riots

NOVI SAD - The Higher Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad said on Friday it had requested information from the Criminal Police Directorate following the airing of footage giving rise to suspicion that activists of political parties and other organisations were planning riots for Saturday's protest in Belgrade.

"Regarding audio footage aired by several nationally broadcast (television) channels in the evening hours of March 13, 2025, whose content gives rise to suspicion that individual activists of political parties and other organisations are arranging the carrying out of riots at a Belgrade protest to be held on March 15, including a violent storming and seizure of state institutions and buildings of the Public Media Institution of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), the Higher Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad hereby informs the public that, pursuant to the provisions of the Criminal Proceedings Code, it has made a request to the Criminal Police Directorate to gather all required information with a view to establishing all facts and the circumstances of events as well as to gathering evidence to ascertain all important elements of criminal offences and criminal accountability of individuals, of which the public will be kept informed in a timely and regular manner," the Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad said in a statement.

Reiterating an appeal for respect of public order and peace, it said any form of violence would be punished by law.
