Opposition Leader: Protestors at Belgrade Waterfront Attacked by Member of Organized Crime

Freedom and Justice Party president Dragan Djilas said on Dec. 4 that one of the people who attacked demonstrators at a recent rally at the Belgrade Waterfront protesting the demolition of the Old Sava Bridge was Aleksandar Boskovic from Valjevo, a member of Darko Saric’s criminal organization.

“[Serbian President Aleksandar] Vucic orders [Vojvodina Assembly Vice President] Damir Zobenica . . . to send lesser-known Serbian Progressive Party officials and activists to attack the people blocking roads [in protest], because, [according to the regime] that is how Serbia is defended,” Djilas wrote in a post on the X social network.

Since the Belgrade Waterfront is “Vucic’s baby,” Djilas went on, those summoned “to defend it” are – according to Vucic, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, Pink TV and the Informer media house – people “who love Serbia the most, the greatest of patriots.” “And then it turns out that one of them, one of the people who beat on the protestors is Aleksandar Boskovic from Valjevo, a member of the Saric gang,” Djilas concluded.

According to him, however, Prosecutor Nikola Pantelic has not brought charges against Boskovic but has rather filed an indictment against Freedom and Justice Party officials Marinika Tepic and Mile Popovic over pushing through a police cordon at the Old Sava Bridge.

Labeling Vucic “the head of an organized criminal group comprised of the Serbian Progressive Party, pro-regime media, parts of the police and prosecution, as well as criminals and thugs,” Djilas closed by saying that the lot of them will one day be held accountable by an independent judiciary.
