BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday a decision by the University of Belgrade Rector's Collegium to decline an invitation to dialogue by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was an "extreme type of cynicism."
In an appearance on Pink TV, Brnabic noted that the Collegium was a university body in charge of communicating with state authorities.
"They have declined, but at the end of that letter, they stated that they remain open to discussions, which I find to be scandalous. How do they remain open to discussions when they have refused dialogue with the president, who has the greatest legitimacy as he is the only one directly elected by the citizens?" Brnabic asked.
She added that the Law on the President of the Republic said the president was a guarantor of unity and noted that "unity is much-needed at this time."
