Vucic meets with Iran's minister of information and communications technology

BELGRADE - Iran will take part in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Thursday after a meeting with Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology Sayyid Sattar Hashemi.

Vucic said the meeting had been good and cordial and that they had discussed bilateral relations and strengthening of economic cooperation in all areas where that was possible.

"I thanked him (Hashemi) for the letter from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who confirmed the country's participation in EXPO 2027, and I noted that we are pleased to expect the arrival of the country's representatives," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

He added that they had discussed the best ways to harness the potentials to strengthen cooperation in the energy, health care tourism, agriculture and ICT sectors.

"We also touched upon the signing of a memorandum on cooperation in information technology, which will contribute to development of innovative solutions in the telecommunications sector, digital skills, information security and development of data centres. I expressed gratitude for Iran's consistent position when it comes to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, whereby that country has demonstrated that it firmly respects the principles of international law," Vucic noted.
