BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday spoke with a delegation of Zijin Mining representatives led by the company's Chairman Chen Jinghe.
Continued firm cooperation between Serbia and the mining company was confirmed at the meeting with a view to further development of industry, job creation and conservation of natural resources.
In a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account, Vucic wrote that the parties had discussed further cooperation and improvement of the business environment for investments in the mining industry, as well as progress in implementing the company's existing investments in Serbia and opportunities to expand operations.
Special focus was placed on mining, environmental protection and sustainable development projects, Vucic noted.
"We especially touched upon the economic significance of projects being carried out by Zijin in Serbia, job creation and the contribution to GDP. We assessed strategies for implementation of environmentally responsible operations in line with Serbian legislation, as well as future steps towards reducing the environmental footprint of mining activities," Vucic wrote in the post.
