Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on April 6 proposed eminent Serbian endocrinologist Djuro Macut as the new prime minister-designate of Serbia.

"I put forward professor Djuro Macut, MD, before the National Assembly of Serbia, as the prime minister-designate," reads Vucic's decision and notes that it will take effect upon being published in the Official Gazette.

Vucic stressed that Macut had the necessary professional and personal qualities, the dedication and expertise needed to discharge the duties of prime minister. "He assured me that he can ensure a majority for electing the new government," Vucic said in an address to the citizens from Serbia Palace.

Vucic said the new government would be picked by Good Friday (April 18) and that it was faced with a difficult task -- to resist all pressure tied to regional policy, resolve the issue of U.S. customs tariffs, speed up the country's European path and at the same time keep its traditional friends in the East, in addition to renewing investments, both foreign and domestic.
