Vucevic: Serbia committed to develop ties with Brazil in all areas

BELGRADE - Serbia is committed to develop bilateral ties and cooperation with Brazil in all areas, above all, in agriculture and the economy, Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said at a meeting with Plinio Nastari, president and CEO of Brazil-based Datagro Consultoria, a leading global consultancy firm specialising in agricultural markets.

Vucevic said that, Brazil being a leading biofuel producer, experience-sharing and cooperation with Brazilian experts could help Serbia improve its energy security and boost its energy sector, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Vucevic noted that his government was taking a series of measures to incentivise agriculture and boost its competitiveness in the national and foreign markets.

Speaking about the launch of a programme incentivising biofuel production from vegetable oils and animal fat - in which Brazil has a long tradition - Nastari said Serbia had enormous potential for production of such fuels, given its substantial agricultural resources.

He noted that, unlike fossil fuels, such types of fuel were considered sustainable as they were based on renewable energy sources and might reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which he said also had a major effect on environmental protection.
