Von der Leyen to visit Serbia

BELGRADE - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be on a working visit to Serbia on Friday and Saturday.

She will be given a ceremonial welcome outside the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade on Friday afternoon and hosted by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic and von der Leyen will first visit the HTEC Group at 1 pm and attend a presentation of projects financed by IPA funds and the EBRD, the Presidency of Serbia has announced in a statement.

After the welcoming ceremony, scheduled for 1.35 pm, Vucic and von der Leyen will hold a tete-a-tete meeting at the Palace of Serbia, to be followed by plenary discussions between Serbian and EU delegations headed by Vucic and von der Leyen.

Vucic and von der Leyen will then speak at a press conference.

Serbian PM Milos Vucevic will meet with von der Leyen at the Palace of Serbia at 3.30 pm.

Von der Leyen is on a tour of the Western Balkans, which she began with a trip to Tirana on Wednesday.

On Friday, she will also be visiting Skopje and Sarajevo, and travel to Pristina and Podgorica after Belgrade.
