US election 2024: Live results from key swing states

The US presidential election outcome is likely to come down to voters in seven key battleground states, based on assessments from independent pollingexperts.

This year's swing states are: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

With its 19 electoral votes, Pennsylvania is the largest prize among the battleground states and an important piece of both campaigns’ path to victory.

Both Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, and their running mates have made frequent visits to the state since becoming their parties’ nominees, including events in Allentown, Scranton, State College, Harrisburg and others in the final week of October.

What is a 'swing state'?

These battleground states are where candidates from both major political parties have a reasonable chance for victory in a statewide race or presidential vote.

The termswing state refers to a state that has gone back and forth between voting for the Republican and Democratic nominees in recent presidential elections.
