US airstrikes target ISIS fighters in Somalia, Trump says

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said he had ordered airstrikes on ISIS targets in Somalia on Saturday.

"These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies. The strikes destroyed the caves they live in, and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians," he posted on Truth Social.

Local media carried reports of airstrikes in Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region in the north-east.
