Speaker Brnabic: Macut Will Be Excellent PM, New Cabinet by April 18

On April 7, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s choice for prime minister-designate has pleasantly surprised the nation and added that Djuro Macut has shown significant courage by accepting the position at such a challenging time.

“No one was born knowing everything, nor was anyone born to be prime minister. [The role] demands someone who is a quick learner, who is prepared to learn a lot and to work with dedication. Macut has demonstrated [these qualities] throughout his life. What we need most is a peaceful, calm person, a man of negotiations,” Brnabic told Happy TV and expressed her belief that Macut will make an excellent PM.

Asked when Serbia should expect its new government, Brnabic said the legal deadline is April 18 but that she hopes the cabinet is formed before then, given that the date coincides with Good Friday, a holiday important to Orthodox Christians.
