Heavy rainfall in Bolivia’s Viacha community has caused severe flooding, destroying crops, submerging homes, and impacting 6,000 people as rivers overflowed in the highlands.
Residents of Bolivia's mountainous Viacha community are reeling from the damage caused by heavy rainfall that led to severe flooding in the region. Rivers burst their banks, submerging farm fields and several homes in the Bolivian highlands.
The floods destroyed vital potato and barley crops, a cornerstone of the local economy.
On Wednesday, farmers waded through the water in an attempt to move stranded livestock to higher ground.
Civil defense officers reported that about 6,000 people have been impacted by the rainfall.
