Sergey Lavrov Speaks at Doha Forum on Global Cooperation

Sputnik is live from Qatar where Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is speaking at the Doha Forum, a regional platform for dialogue on cooperation in a changing world.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced that Lavrov would also participate in a political science conference during his visit. Turkish media reports suggest that a ministerial meeting of the Astana Trio (Russia, Turkiye, and Iran) on Syria may take place in Doha by the end of the week. Zakharova confirmed that discussions are underway regarding this "Astana format" meeting.

Additionally, Lavrov is expected to meet with Geir Pedersen, the UN special envoy for Syria, on the summit's sidelines.

This year’s forum is held on December 7-8 and titled "The Innovation Imperative". It brings together leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss key global challenges.
