Serbia registers 212 bln dinar budget deficit in 2024

BELGRADE - In 2024, Serbia registered a 212 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 51 bln dinars better than planned under a supplementary budget law.

The planned deficit was 263 bln dinars, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement this week.

Revenues totalled 2,141.6 bln dinars, while expenditures stood at 2,353.6 bln dinars.

A 141.1 bln dinar deficit was registered in December.

December revenues totalled 209.9 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 351 bln dinars.

Tax revenues in that month amounted to 174.9 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (91.5 bln) and excise duties (41 bln).

Non-tax revenues amounted to 31.8 bln dinars and donations stood at 3.3 bln dinars.

Expenditures for employees totalled 40.9 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 21.6 bln dinars and transfers for social protection were also at 21.6 bln and expenditures for goods and services stood at 27.6 bln, with capital expenditures at 150.6 bln and subsidies at 42.9 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 191.9 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 23.7 bln dinar primary fiscal deficit were registered in 2024, the ministry said.
