Russia Accepts Vucic’s Apology for Serbia’s Mistaken Vote in Favor of Anti-Russian UN Resolution

Russia had accepted an apology of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for “a technical error” and his country’s “mistaken vote” in favor of an anti-Russian Resolution on Ukraine in the UN General Assembly, a Kremlin official said on Feb. 25.

“Such a prompt reaction from President Aleksandar Vucic following his country’s accidental vote in favor of an anti-Russian resolution appeals to us,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.  

Addressing a news briefing, Peskov said it was really an error, adding that Russia “has taken note of it.” He added that “technical errors do happen.”  

“Contrary to its usual practice, Serbia also voted in favor of the document. Vucic later said that it was a mistake and stressed that the country had been expected to abstain from voting. The Serbian leader took the blame and apologized to the country’s people,” Russian news agency TASS has written.
