The NADA coalition, consisting of the New Democratic Party of Serbia and the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia, on Jan. 22 called on citizens to take part in a general strike announced for Jan. 24.

New Democratic Party of Serbia president Milos Jovanovic said in the press release that a general strike would help Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic realize that the people will not accept his "pathetic and incredibly damaging deception and manipulation."

"A general people's rebellion, a general strike where everything will stop, blockades of institutions are the only way to make this corrupt and traitorous government that is not of the people accept the fact that overcoming the greatest political crisis since the beginning of the multi-party system which they are responsible for requires resignations and then an interim cabinet whose only job would be to create the conditions for a fair, democratic and finally free election," he said.

Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia leader Vojislav Mihailovic said a general strike would succeed if it is not one of just students and teachers, but farmers, public and private sector employees, artists, pensioners in the street, and everyone who is for change.
