Djuric meets with Sorensen in Munich

MUNICH - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with the new EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Peter Sorensen on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Friday.

Congratulating Sorensen on assuming the post, Djuric noted it was important for Serbia as well as for the region as a whole.

Djuric noted that Belgrade expected good cooperation with Sorensen and would continue to be a constructive partner in the dialogue, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

He also said he hoped they would soon meet in Belgrade.

Djuric pointed out the extremely difficult position of Serbs in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija, noting that Pristina was doggedly refusing to meet its commitments under the Brussels Agreement and that Albin Kurti's regime was openly sending a message that it did not want to enable the establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities, a key element of the First Brussels Agreement.

Djuric said Belgrade expected Sorensen's engagement to be aimed at creating the conditions for implementing agreements and for productive dialogue in the process of normalisation of relations.

Serbia is interested in progress and development of all communities in the region, Djuric noted.
