BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic met with newly-elected Transportgas Serbia Director Zoran Jovicic on Tuesday to discuss the company's successful certification as an independent transport system operator, as also confirmed by the Energy Community.
Djedovic Handanovic said the certificate for Transportgas, issued by the Energy Agency, represented a significant step forward for Serbia in the natural gas sector following the completion of all objectives under a reform agenda set for the power generation sector until December 2024.
"The certification process took a very long time, and the issue was current in the past 11 years as one of the objectives in the gas sector reform. Through self-sacrificing work, we have managed to complete a challenging process, with great engagement by Transportgas, Srbijagas and the Energy Agency, whereby all demands set by the European Commission have been met," Djedovic Handanovic said.
The meeting also addressed other objectives of the reform agenda until June 2025, which will introduce further important reforms in the gas sector.
