Consumer protection association Efektiva has called on Serbian citizens to boycott big retail chains on Jan. 31 due to their excessive margins.
The call refers to four retailers who are being investigated by the Commission for Protection of Competition, i.e. Delhaize, Mercator, Univerexport, and DIS, on suspicion of coordinating prices.
A fifth retailer - Lidl - has been added to the list, who Efektiva claims has also joined the policy of excessive pricing.
The boycott of shopping in the biggest retail chains is a warning shot, designed to test the power of consumers and reactions of the authorities and retailers.
