BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday Serbia continued the fight for derecognitions of the so-called "Kosovo" and that more countries were expected to derecognise it soon.
In a reaction to a statement by Borko Stefanovic - an MP and deputy leader of the opposition Freedom and Justice Party - who has said Kenya had recognised the so-called Kosovo five months after Tamara Vucic, wife of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, had visited the African country, Brnabic said Stefanovic had been a top government official at the time Pristina had declared independence in 2008.
"The then government of cowards and losers responded with one press statement," Brnabic posted on X.
"Today, Pristina's biggest friends are fighting for Borko Stefanovic, Dragan Djilas and Marinika Tepic to return to power to finalise the process of the false state's independence," she said.
She noted that Stefanovic had personally asked the US to delay its recognition of Pristina's independence to enable Boris Tadic to win in presidential elections.
"He was trying to convince the Americans that they (the ruling coalition at the time) would get Serbia into NATO if Tadic wins," Brnabic noted.
Stefanovic was at the Serbian MFA when the International Court of Justice was asked for its opinion, which is now invoked by those who recognise the so-called "Kosovo", Brnabic wrote in the post, noting that Stefanovic had conducted negotiations with Pristina that had resulted in a recognition of the seal of the false state and in borders being set up between Serbs.
