Brnabic lays wreath in Jajinci memorial complex

BELGRADE - In the capacity as a presidential envoy, Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic laid a wreath in the Jajinci memorial complex on Tuesday to mark the Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Holocaust, Genocide and Other Victims of Fascism in WWII.

At a state ceremony, wreaths were also laid by representatives of the City of Belgrade, the Vozdovac municipality, the Museum of Genocide Victims, the Staro Sajmiste memorial centre, the Federation of Jewish Municipalities, the National Council of the Roma National Minority, the Citizens' Association for Cherishing Anti-Fascist Traditions and foreign diplomatic missions in Serbia.

The Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Holocaust, Genocide and Other Victims of Fascism in WWII commemorates April 22, 1945, when two groups comprised of a total of over 1,000 prisoners at the Jasenovac death camp in the Independent State of Croatia attempted to break out of the camp.

Only 91 made it out alive.
