Begovic: Serbia had a leading role at GPAI meeting

PARIS - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic said on Tuesday Serbia had had a leading role at a ministerial meeting of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) in Paris and that the country remained a leader when it comes to new technologies.

"What I am especially proud of is that the example of Serbia is really something the communication is about and all our partners we have spoken with to date note that we were really the first to do certain things and they now expect results and experience-sharing from us and, ultimately, advice from Serbia on how to advance their education when it comes to AI," Begovic said.

She noted that a large number of meetings had been held, including with the director of Saudi Arabia's Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority and the Greek minister of digital governance.

"We often heard the words 'we thank Serbia for all these initiatives', and we continue to work and to really be a top country in terms of new technologies," Begovic said.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia President Marko Cadez, who is also a member of a Serbian delegation attending the GPAI summit, noted that Serbia was exporting 4 bln euros worth of software a year compared to 400 mln euros six years ago and that this meant it was "doing something well."
